William John Griffis

William John Griffis, 79, a long time Rushville resident and businessman passed away September 8, 2024 in Indianapolis.  Bill was born April 14, 1945 in Lancaster, Wisconsin to James and Kathleen (Richter) Griffis.  He was a 1963 graduate of Lancaster High School and attended the University of Wisconsin.  He married Sherri Fuller on July 11, 1982 and she survives.

Bill owned and operated Capital Planning Associates in Rushville for over 40 years.  He was active in the Rushville Rotary Club and enjoyed his involvement with the Stock Market Club at Rushville Elementary.

He knew his way around a pool table and enjoyed watching football, especially the Indianapolis Colts.   He and Sherri had spent Spring Break at St. Pete beach for the past 40 years.

Bill will be missed by his wife, Sherri, of Rushville, sons, Patrick and Kirk Griffis of Las Vegas, daughters, Nikki Griffis of Las Vegas, Kristi (Jeff) Bruns of Rushville and Erin (Scott) Garriott of Indianapolis, brothers, James and Dennis Griffis of Arizona, grandchildren, Devon Griffis, Antoine Anderson-Griffis, Austin (Morgan) Bruns, Spencer Bruns (Claudia Schwitz), Parker Bruns, Ella, Mae and Weston Garriott and great-granddaughters, Jamiyah Washington and Kennedy Bruns.  

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor John Wall presiding.  Friends are welcome to visit the family from 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday in the mortuary.  Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rushville Rotary Club, Rush County Community Foundation or to Rush County Victim’s Assistance.
