Frederick John Kaufman III, age 85, of Metamora passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Wellspring of Cincinnati following a lengthy illness.

Born in Wyandotte, Michigan in 1939, he was one of two children born to the late Frederick J. II and Marion Kaufman.  In 1968 he married the love of his life, Julie, with whom he shared a marriage full of devotion, laughter, and adventure until her passing in November 2022.

Fred built a successful career as a regional sales manager in the plastics industry, where his pleasurable nature, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to forge lasting relationships earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional life, Fred embraced every moment with enthusiasm.  An avid golfer, he was a proud member of the Palmetto Club in Aiken, South Carolina, and Hillcrest Country Club in Batesville.  He also had a passion for racquetball, enjoying both the competition and camaraderie at the YMCA, often capping off his games with friends at Silver Spring House.  A nature enthusiast, Fred found joy in tree farming, preserving his land, and spending time outdoors.  His love for animals was boundless-he had a special fondness for dogs, chickens, and ducks, and his kindness extended to all creatures.

Above all, Fred was fiercely devoted to protecting and providing for his family.  His unwavering love and dedication were evident in every aspect of his life, and he took immense pride in ensuring the well-being of those he loved most.

He is survived by his children, Shelley (Steve) Ham and Frederick J. Kaufman IV (Sara); five cherished grandchildren, Fred J. Kaufman V, Gabriel Kaufman, Olivia Ham, Abigail Ham, and Jonathan Ham; and his sister, Stephanie Heller.

Fred will be remembered for his warmth, zest for life, and the deep, lasting connections he formed with everyone fortunate to have known him.
