Jimmie Madden
March 25, 2025 at 2:37 p.m.

Jimmie “Donnie” “Doc” Madden, 86, finished his Earthly journey on Thursday, February 20, 2025, with his loving family gathered at his bedside. From the beginning of his battle until the very end, Jimmie was given the absolute best, most loving care by his girls and family. He fought the fight and has won the race, now residing at Hillside Glory Lane in Heaven with Jesus and his loved ones. What a glorious reunion for him and his family.
One of six children of Ernest and Phena (Cook) Madden, Jimmie was born in Jackson County, KY on December 3, 1938. On July 18, 1959, Jimmie married the former Ilene Burch, and together they shared nearly 67 years of marriage. From day one, Ilene was his joy and inspiration, and together, they built a legacy of love, leading by example and instilling in their children the importance of Salvation, prayer and worship, and dedication to The Lord. A devout Christian, you could find Jimmie reading his Bible at all hours, attending church, and enjoying family gatherings of prayer and worship. Jimmie had a passion for living. He truly loved life, and he was always happy and on the go.
Upon his retirement from Ford Philco/Visteon, Jimmie continued to work in excavating and dump trucking with his sons. In his spare time, he loved being at “the barn,” working in hay, plowing the fields, and tending to his cows. Most of all, however, Jimmie loved helping his boys, yet, let’s not forget the garden, which was always a sore spot as his girls could “never do it right.”
From cherished trips to Kentucky for family reunions and the celebration of Easter, to the Madden Family Christmas gathering and the beloved game of BINGO, outside of serving The Lord, family time was most important to Jimmie. He loved seeing all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and the feeling was mutual. In his spare time, it was his grandchildren. He dearly loved each and every one, as they all held their own special place in his great big heart.
Jimmie is survived by his loving wife, Ilene, and his six children: Liz Estes of Columbia; James D. (Diana) Madden of Laurel; Teresa (Roger) Tucker of Everton; Jason (Tara) Madden of the Orange area, Serena (the late Jerome) Cox of Connersville, and Jeremiah Madden of Brookville. His memory will also be cherished by his 18 grandchildren: Katrena (Wayne) Harris, Jalena (Eric) Ball, Tasha Estes, Crystal (John) Vestal, Matt (Abby) Madden, Jacob (Amber) Madden, Cody (Kayleen) Madden, Rebecca (Nick) Moore, Tessa (Josh) Schirmer, Jessi (Charle) Hammond, Krista (Colt) Marcum, Kaleigh (Greg) Peters, Josh Baker, Ayla (Eric) Bulmer, Amanda (Gary) Harlan, Thea (Nate) Ison, Garrett Madden, and Bria Cox, as well as his siblings, Sylvia (David) Sechrest, Loretta (Jerry) Beach, and David Madden. He will also be deeply missed by his 49 great grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon and Nola Madden and Eugene and Vivian Madden, and sister-in-law, Virginia Madden.
Family and friends visitation was held on Friday, Feb. 28 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Blooming Grove Family Worship Church, 15001 Stone Church Road, Brookville. Funeral service was held at the church on Saturday, March 1 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tom Marshall officiating.
