It is safe to say that opening day at Kehila Coffee in Liberty was well received last Friday, June 25.

Darah Finch’s new business venture was packed with customers, curiosity-seekers and well-wishers before the doors opened and after the official closing time.

Darah worked it out with the Union County Development Corporation to hold a 10 a.m. ribbon cutting. When Darah and her volunteer staff appeared outside for the picture session, they were delighted to see the overflow crowd and invited everyone to become part of the ribbon cutting photo.

After the photo, Darah and crew lead the procession inside. It was packed within a few seconds with more people waiting outside.

“It was a busy day,” Finch said. “And I’m thankful to the volunteers who helped out.”

Busy? You bet!

“We used 19 gallons of milk so far,” Darah said as business slowed a bit. And Darah’s father, Gary, was seen making his way to the kitchen with at least three more gallons of milk in hand.

Normal business hours are Monday thru Friday, 6 a.m. - 5 p.m., Saturday, 8 a.m.-noon.

Kehila Coffee began serving food items on Monday, June 28, and Darah was pleased that it went so well.

“It’s been good,” Darah said. “Good weekend and start of this week.”

Kehila Coffee volunteer baristas include: Morgan Ball, Emily Couser, Karagan Reuss, Dave Soper, Ben Soper, Darah’s sister and husband, Kayla and Michael Rogers and her parents, Donna and Gary Finch.
