Gordin Smith

Gordin E. Smith, 86, of Liberty, passed away on July 21, 2022 in Richmond. He was born in September 1935, the son of Emerson and Elizabeth May (Weidenbach) Smith. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-63 and was stationed in Germany from 1955-57.
Gordin married Jackie Morrison on February 7, 1959 in Brookville; she survives. Also surviving are his children Kim, Darrell, and Debbie. He is survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Norma Jean Smith.
Gordin was a successful dairy farmer all his life and retired in June 2000. Gordin was a life-long IU basketball fan and his favorite time of year was March Madness. He was also a devoted International Harvester fan and collector. After his retirement, Gordin enjoyed going to auctions.
There was a graveside service for Gordin on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at College Corner Cemetery, S Brookville Pike, West College Corner, IN 47003. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department at 1 South Fairground Street Liberty, IN 47353. Urban Winkler Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
