Benjamin Oglesby Memorial Car Show

This past Sunday, Aug. 7th, the 7th annual Benjamin Oglesby Memorial car, truck, and bike show was held down at the town park. Hundreds of cars, classics and newer models were lined up for judging and viewing. There were Corvettes, Chevelles, Mustangs, Volkswagens and many more.
Various car clubs, a live DJ and food vendors were all present to make this memorial show a fun morning. A large portion of these vehicles present were in top condition, pristine and provided a nostalgic blast from the past feeling of excitement and awe.
Several popular debuts included:
· Custom T Bucket Sand Drag Race Car, owned by Ron Kersey.
· 1931 Hupmobile Model 114 Series 5, owned by Gary and Sarah Hoffman.
· 1964 Chevelle (Maroon), owned by Vernon Vanover for five to six years.
· 1951 Ford Custom Coup, all original and restored in '92, owned by Vern Litschgi for 12 years.
· 1992 F250, an original with only 60K miles, owned by Earl Payne.
· Chevy C-10, owned by Art Wells.
· The Poor Boys Car Club debuted various Mustangs and Chevy Malibus.
· 1966 Dodge Coronet 500, owned since October 2021 by Daryl Laker.
· 1950 Chevy 350, owned by Joey 'TAZ' Henshen
· 1931 Chevy AE Independence, all original with 42K miles, owned by Dwayne Murray.
· 1947 Studebaker Commander, a converted 4-door sedan to 2-door hardtop, restored by Doug Reid and TAZ.
· 1930 Ford Model A, owned by Marsha and Wayne Luther.
· 1970-1972 Novas, three, owned by David Hall, Ted Lacy and Dan Vogel.
A few highly popular favorites among the crowd included:
· 2003 Chevy SSR Super Sport Roadster, 360 miles, owned by Mike Oldenbick.
· 1977 Camaro, owned by Ronnie Keins.
· 1976 Pontiac Trans Am
· 1953 Packard
· 1980 Chevy Corvette T-Top
· 1971 El Camino, owned by Charlie Pierce.
The show was a success and thank you to all the owners who came out to showcase their years of hard work and dedication to the classics. Awards given will be provided next week.
