The Union County, Richmond volleyball scrimmage last week at Roy E. Stevens Gymnasium gave everyone a glimpse of what to expect this season.

“Scrimmage went very well,” UC volleyball coach Allison Kassens said. “Richmond is good as always so this gives us a good indication of what we need to work on.”

The Lady Pats return this season with experience, good fundamentals and team spirit as a result of positional training during the summer months.

“I had middies come in for an hour one day, outsides in another day, etc. to help them excel in their own specific positions,” Kassens explained. “From there we came together as a team. I think it all meshed together very well tonight.”

Scrimmage was a series of sessions to work on different situations with a running clock and no scores kept.

Then two games of 25  were played and the Lady Pats won both 25-16 and 25-21.

“I have six seniors. They have been here before and know the game.” Kassens said. “They did a very good job and led the court tonight.”
