The Brookville Town Council met on Aug. 16 to discuss and address all new updates and current projects. Led by Curtis Ward, minutes from the last meeting and technical session were approved. Regarding the board’s special meeting(s), motions were approved.

The board advertised requested proposals for the grant regarding the construction phase of the  PreservINg Main Street project. Two to five listed approved admins were sent in. One proposal was sent back for the Administrative Resources administration (ARa), so the candidate will be asked to take on the role of admin for the construction phase. Candidates were proposed based on conduct, applicable fulfillment to duties, and the job tasks listed to perform efficiently.

Ward read out the announcement letter for proposed admins. Acceptance of the new admin was approved.

Third Place is requesting to close Progress and Eighth streets (Sept. 24th) until 5pm. There have been over 400 responders and setup may be similar to that of Brookville on Tap. Someone will be available to direct traffic, though blockades are being considered. Motion to approve the closure for the Strings of Blessing was carried.

The lease of space at the water works building is still $1/year. The contract hasn't changed and the lease will run from Sept 1, 2022- Sept 1, 2023. The council pays for electricity, natural gas, water, and sewer. Tenants are responsible for internet, telephone, and cable. Motion to approve the contract was carried.

Due to switching municipal carriers last year, there was no re-bid for renewal this year. Council will continue with Tokyo Marine and the renewal quote was $72, 267. The terrorism portion premium is $625 while the cyber liability premium, which has increased within the last year, sits at $7, 902.05.

Council members next addressed the hiring of a new water works employee training and the pay range. As it was out of date, the board discussed equalizing pay with the Sewer Operator training pay (from $15 to $19.10/hr). This was approved by the board.

The board had a flyer in the mail about Game Time and Brent Riehle's budget proposal requested any form of playground equipment right off the park. The council eagerly approved the motion.

A motion was approved to pass building permit 969.

Lastly, the board updated on roof fixings that are underway. The roof of the Dollar General should be finished within three to six weeks.
