The Infamous Few held their 9th annual Metamora Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) benefit ride on Saturday, July 2. The group left the Pioneer Restaurant in Brookville at 11:30 a.m. with over 100 bikes participating and 100 percent of proceeds raised going to the MVFD.

“The MVFD is self-funded, and everything they get is through grants, so it was something we picked to help them out,” Infamous Few president Dale Troy said. “All the money raised goes back to the first responders and the fire department, they are a huge part of the community, and we want to give back to our community.”

The group was escorted out of Brookville by the Brookville Volunteer Fire Department. The ride had three stops, including Oxford, Harrison, and Bright. The MVFD escorted the club to the  Whitewater Valley Gateway Park in Metamora, where the MVFD Freedom Festival was held.

The Infamous Few formed 10 years ago and started off small with intentions to help those in need in Franklin, Ripley, and Shelby counties. The club has grown substantially and raises money for more than the MVFD.

On Aug. 13, the Infamous few will hold the third annual “Ride 2 Provide,” a Christmas benefit ride for children in Franklin County. This ride holds a special place in the club's heart as proceeds are used to buy Christmas presents for children that otherwise may not have presents on Christmas morning. When the initiative started, members paid for gifts out of pocket and could support only a few families. Since implementing the ride, over 30 kids can enjoy the wonder of Christmas morning. Troy shared that without the support of community members, businesses and bikers, it wouldn't be possible.

“You know you are doing something right when you are in Walmart buying the gifts, and someone comes up to you and asks what you are doing and when you tell them, they want to give money for the kids in need,” said Troy.

The “Ride 2 Provide” benefit will begin and end at the American Legion Post #77, 1290 Fairfield Ave., Brookville. This year the ride will include a route for motorcycles and a separate route for Jeeps and UTVs. Registration is from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The cost for motorcycles is $25 and $5 for a passenger. Jeeps/UTV are $30 for two people and an additional $10 for each passenger. Also, a chicken dinner meal will be offered at the Legion ($10 per person), a 50/50 raffle, and a silent auction.
