Donald Handley

Donald Eugene Handley, age 86, of Indianapolis, left his earthly body on Friday, June 24, 2022, at home. Donald was born September 1, 1935 in Richmond to Sylvan Eugene Handley and Jeannette (Snyder) Handley. He lived most of his life in Liberty, leaving it for a time to be educated at International Barber College and Ivy Tech.
Upon graduation, he returned to Liberty and was a full-time barber until The Beatles era came to the USA. He then continued as a part-time barber while working full-time at D&M Manufacturing in Connersville. When the doors closed, he went to work at Gold Star in Richmond until his retirement in 2007. He continued being a barber part-time until taking full retirement at age 82.
Donald enjoyed sports, traveling, and dancing. He rooted for the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana Pacers. He and Donna enjoyed ballroom dancing. He was in a bowling league for many years until having to work at full-time jobs. Donald also was passionate about helping others, and the less fortunate.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Neil Handley; granddaughter, Jessica (Andrew) Sheard; grandson, Maxwell Fredricks; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his favorite four-legged friend, Buster.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Donna; his parents, Sylvan and Jeannette; and two sons, Stephen E. Handley and Scott C. Handley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to: Liberty Presbyterian Church OR The Salvation Army.
His brother, Neil, would like to thank Paradigm Hospice, especially Gabby, who provided special care during his final weeks.
Graveside services are being planned at the convenience of the family for a later date.
