Gina Price, 37, of Richmond is scheduled for Trial by Jury on Aug. 30 as a result of striking two Union County Highway Department workers in the fall of 2021, while intoxicated causing death to one, and serious injury to the other.
On April 18, 2022, Price was formerly charged with Causing Death while Operating a Motor Vehicle while Intoxicated (F4), Reckless Homicide, Recklessly Kills another Human Being (F5) and Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Vehicle with Schedule I or Schedule II (F5).
The collision occurred on West Clifton Road, west of Liberty. Union County Highway Department workers, Justin Moore, 42, of Brookville, and Douglas Scaggs, 62, of Liberty were laying gravel to even the uneven shoulder caused by new asphalt when Price struck both Moore and Scaggs. More was pronounced deceased on the scene and Scaggs was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton with serious injuries.
Price was uninjured in the crash but was transported to Reid Hospital for a chemical test. According to a Probable Cause Affidavit written by Indiana State Police Trooper Paul Harrison Price's chemical test results were positive for fentanyl and methadone.
If convicted Price will face a sentencing range of four years to 24 years. The trial was originally set to begin on July 19, but has been rescheduled by request for Aug. 30., in Union County Circuit Court.
