Rachel Ingram selected Union County’s 2022 4-H Fair Queen and Miss Personality

With pre-fair judging week on the horizon, Union County High School junior Rachel Ingram will reign over the 2022 Union County 4-H Fair as it’s queen.
Ingram was also selected 2022 Miss Personality last Saturday’s Union County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant at Union County High School.
Rachel keeps busy with a wide variety of interests. She is a six-year 4-H junior leader currently serving as secretary and enrolled 10 other 4-H project including sheep, swine, dogs, cats, small pets, foods, gift wrapping, photography, shooting sports and sewing. At UCHS she is a member of the Spanish club, academic teams, Patriot Singers Show Choir, student council, class treasurer, musical casts and model legislature.
Rachel enjoys attending Living Faith Church of God and youth group, meeting new people, participating in the fair and going to Kehlia Coffee. Her future plans include attending aesthetician school to become a licensed aesthetician and attend college to earn a physician’s assistant degree. Her dream is to operate her own Aesthetician practice.
First Runner-up Keilynn Jones is the 17-year-old daughter of Ryan and Jessica Jones and will be a senior at Union County High School this fall. She is a nine-year member of the Hopeful Homemakers/ Future Farmers 4-H Club exhibiting in cake decorating, foods, arts and crafts, sewing, goats, sheep and swine.
Her school activities include10-year student council member, National Honor Society, scholar athlete, junior class president, soccer, varsity cheerleader and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She attends Harmony Road Living Word Assembly, volunteers at Play in the Park, volunteer cheer instructor at UC Youth League and assists teaching dance and gymnastics at Rita’s Dixon Dance Studio.
Second runner-up in the Union County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant is Brooke Marcum. The 18-year-old is the daughter of Kevin and Jennifer Marcum and recent graduate of Union County High School where she was a four-year FFA member, two-year member of National Honor Society, two years on student council and two-time archery state qualifier.
Brooke served as Liberty chapter FFA secretary and earned the Indiana FFA State Hoosier Degree at the 2022 state convention.
She is a nine-year 4-H member exhibiting in sewing, cake decorating, foods, shooting sports, sport fishing and poultry. Her future plans including Morehead State University to major in agribusiness.
While the little miss and queen judges were making their decisions, the 2021 4-H Fair queen Lyllian Pentecost and little miss Kambry Carson gave farewell speeches.
“I’m very excited for the next deserving girl tonight but I am also sad that my time as queen has come to an end. Being queen has taught me lessons and opportunities that I will always cherish,” Lyllian said. “To say this past year has been amazing, would be a huge understatement. This is and experience I hold dear to my heart and I will forever be grateful. Signing off for the last time, your 2021 Miss Union County.”
“I had a lot of fun being Little Miss. Passing out ribbons was exciting. Lyllian was a great queen and I’m glad I got to hand out with her and the rest of the court,” Kambry said. “I’m ready to crown the next little girl and I hope she has as much fun as I did!!!”
The queen pageant included interviews with the judges earlier in the day and ended with each contestant responding to a randomly selected question from 2021 Union County 4-H Fair queen Lillian Pentecost.
Other queen contestants were: Lillian Fields, Harleigh Keasling, Kaylee Klein, Hayley Lester, Kyleigh Payne and Payten Logue. Queen contest judges were Abbe Pflum, Bentonville; Kathleen Nicholson, Hancock County; Joe Pflum, Bentonville.
The queen and her court are responsible for handing out awards following the judging of 4-H projects at the Union County 4-H Pre-Fair judging, July 12-16 and the Union County 4-H Fair, July 17-23.
Little Union County Taryn Harvey and little miss personality Ellie Murray will also assist the queen and her court during fair week.
The Union County 4-H Fair Queen Pageant is sponsored by the Union County 4-H Association. Union County Farm Bureau, Inc. sponsored the Little Union County Contest. Queen Pageant Committee members are Vanessa Mitchell, Melissa Wiwi, Dawn McCashland, Carrie Rosenberger, Laura Powers, Ashley Beckett and Emily Chambers.
