State office candidates finalized

Options for Indiana voters became more stabilized over the weekend as candidates for state treasurer, secretary of state and state auditor were chosen at the respective Democratic and Republican state conventions in Indianapolis.
Most notable on the Republican side is the absence of incumbent Holli Sullivan for secretary of state; holding the position since March 2021, Sullivan was voted out by delegates in favor of Diego Morales, a former aide to Vice President Mike Pence. Morales was previously fired from current state Attorney General Todd Rokita’s office and has spoken out in the past about the supposed illegitimacy of the 2020 presidential election results.
Kyle Conrad, Paul Hager and David Shelton were also in consideration. Destiny Scott Wells, a former National Guard soldier originally from Morgan County, was the Democrats’choice. Libertarians have selected Jeff Maurer.
Republican incumbent Tera Klutz was unopposed for auditor while the Dems have gone with ZeNai Brooks. John Schick is on the ballot as a Libertarian.
GOP delegates had to narrow the treasurer field from four to one. It took a total of three rounds but eventually Daniel Elliott came out on top. The Democrat candidate is Jessica McClellan from Monroe County. Elliott was chosen ahead of Lana Keesling, Elise Nieshalla and Pete Seat.
