Rosenberger to reign over 4-H Fair
Rosenberger to reign over 4-H Fair

By Cheyenne Lance-

Every year, 4-H holds a pageant to determine who the new queen of 4-H will be. This year, our contestants were four beautiful ladies who walked the stage with pride, poise, elegance, and intelligence. Our contestants first walk the stage in business formal wear and present a 2–3-minute speech on the value 4-H has given them over the years.

Autumn Bruns, sponsored by the Oxford Pike Pioneers, spoke of her ten years' experience in 4-H, and how in the beginning, all she ever wanted was that purple ribbon. However, as she grew up, she learned that while the ribbon was an honor to have, it was knowing that her 4-H family was always going to be there for her no matter what. She values the relationships and bonds she has made and hopes to continue while she navigates new paths.
Chloe Cowen, sponsored by the Oxford Pike Pioneers, delivered an admirable speech about how 4-H was her inspiration to not only try new things,

but in doing so, embraced the tenacity to tackle new challenges in her life. From showing pigs in the beginning, to learning new talents (sewing, cooking, embroidery), Chloe has learned that trying new challenges is never a mistake. Thanks to her dedication, Chloe was able to graduate high school with an honors diploma and an associate degree from Ivy Tech.

Devyn Kerr, sponsored by Dairy Cottage, stood before the audience, and presented a moving speech about how she, at just nine years old, never would have imagined she would be standing in the court as a participant one day. Devyn explained how she, as a young child just getting her first steps into 4-H life, never would have known just how far her dedication, time, and perseverance would lead her. The impact 4-H has had on Devyn's life prompted her to also take on new challenges. She graduated high school as a junior with an honor's diploma and now attends Franklin College. Devyn spoke about how her choices, and the family she grew to love within the 4-H community, have spurred her to maintain a place on the Dean's List every semester, and how she not only tried out for a sport she had never played before (lacrosse), but became a starter as well.

Shelby Rosenberger, the last contestant and sponsored by Oxford Pike Pioneers, stood proudly on the stage while she shared her recipe for a fulfilling, life-long commitment of 4-H, and how it will further guide her in life. Baking bread with her grandma, and the various recipes they used, reminds her of how 4-H provided emotional relationships with her friends, families, and community. Six cups of flour, one cup of water, one packet of yeast, and the traditional secret ingredient marked her steps taken since she was a child. The hard work to choose a craft and stay committed, the new crafts learned over the years with hours upon hours of time and effort, the plethora of weeks spent perfecting her crafts for others to enjoy, and the mentality of success as Shelby now plans to be a mentor for those around the country.

All four ladies presented thoughtful speeches before briefly exiting to change into their evening gowns. This allowed Shaden Galyen, the 2021 4-H Fair Queen, to give her farewell speech. She detailed how 4-H impacted her life, how her decade of experience has helped her grow, and how she hopes her time as the queen helps inspire the younger generation to keep pushing forward. With that, Shaden gracefully stepped aside to help present the impromptu questions for our contestants.

In order of ruling:
· Devyn Kerr-Miss Congeniality
· Autumn Bruns-First runner up
· Chloe Cowen-Second Runner up

The new 4-H Fair Queen was awarded to Shelby Rosenberger. Shaden passed on her crown and Shelby took a moment to accept her recognition.

"Knowing how hard I worked over the years makes this accomplishment feel so surreal. I hope that I can make an impact on the community and continue advocating 4-H," Shelby states.

Congratulations to our gorgeous ladies in the pageant, and to Shelby Rosenberger.

The pageant also hosted the 4-H princess. Twelve beautiful girls in lovely dresses graced the stage for a chance to become the next Princess and Miss Personality. Our 2021 winners, Emma Franks (Princess) and Kyndal Burns (Miss Personality), awaited on stage to present their bouquets and tiaras to the new winners.

Each contestant had the chance to walk the stage while the crowd learned their favorite hobbies and plans for the future. The girls were excited to be crowned but stood calmly and patiently as Princesses should.

The 2022 Miss Personality was awarded to Olivia Patterson.

The 2022 Princess was awarded to Quinn Wesolowski.

Congratulations to both young ladies, and to the other girls who participated. Each one of them accepted the announcements with friendly applause and congratulatory declarations.

The princess contestants included: Quinn Wesolowski, Claire Schneider, Lacey Bath, Jaycie Weiss, Lydia Stenger, Olivia Patterson, Reghan Ratz, Kennedi Singer, Everly Powell, and Kaley Selm.
