Three counts of Child Molesting (F1)

Three counts of Sexual Misconduct with a minor, has intercourse or engages in other sexual conduct (F5)

On Sept. 23, Paul Barada was appointed as Meckley's counsel at the county's expense and entered a plea of not guilty on Meckley's behalf.  On Nov. 30, 2020, Meckley was released on a $10,000 bond. A jury trial was scheduled for Jan. 11, 2021, but was postponed several times due to the pandemic, and Meckley not showing up for court.

A plea agreement was filed by the State of Indiana on June 3, 2022, and a change of plea hearing was scheduled for July 20, 2022. However, the court overruled and denied said plea agreement and set the case for a jury trial on Aug. 15, 2022, at which time Meckley filed another Motion for Continuance that the court also denied.

Another change of plea hearing was filed on Aug. 3, 2022. The state dismissed six charges, and Meckley pleaded guilty to one count of Child Molesting (F1) and two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a minor (F4). Meckley's sentencing hearing was set for Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. before Judicial officer J. Steven Cox. Cox sentenced Meckley to 30 years (six years suspended to probation) with the Indiana Department of Corrections for Child Molesting, and two additional terms of 6 years for two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a minor to be served consecutively with the 30-year sentence.
