Christopher Gene Coffey

December 6, 2023 at 1:53 p.m.

Christopher Gene Coffey was born 26 October 1967 in Hamilton, Butler County, Ohio. Christopher went peacefully to the Summerland 3 December 2023 in Reid Healthcare. At the age of six months, Chris was adopted by his parents Donald Gene and Arlene Coffey of College Corner, Ohio.

Chris married his best friend and love of his life, Karen Ann Barlow 17 March 1991. They share an unbreakable bond that still endures.

Chris enjoyed music, especially Blondie and Olivia Newton John. He knew every ABBA song by heart and belted them out joyfully.

Chris was active in Union County High School Show choir and musicals. He was an avid fan of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, knew ALL the audience responses and most of the script. Chris could recite the entire history of most DC comic characters from their first appearance on, and every story plot. He was an avid Godzilla fan and owned every movie in both English and Japanese. He enjoyed every minute of bad “B” rated horror movies which went hand in hand with his love of Halloween.

Chris leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Karen. His mother Arlene (Smalley); sisters Natalie (Tony) Brock, Clarissa (Brian) Caudill, a brother Shane Coffey, also several nieces and nephews.  Chris will be greatly missed by a very close and special family friend, Amanda Patterson and her son Chel. And lastly, the most important member of the household, his dog Tessie.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Donald Gene Coffey, his grandparents, Harold and Naomi Smalley, and Robert and Gladys Katherine Coffey.

Chris will be cremated. There will be no services at this time; however, a celebration of his life will be planned at the family's convenience.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chris' name may be made to the Union County Public Library 2 East Seminary, Liberty IN 47353. Please mark that it is to ENHANCE their Graphic Novels and Fantasy books.

Urban Winkler Funeral Home is honored to assist Chris' family with the arrangements. To sign the online guestbook, please visit www.urbanwinklerfuneralhome.com
