Oldenburg boys cagers earned their sixth win of the season Saturday night at the Feldhaus following Hall of Fame introductions. A late 12-footer by Connor Miles was the decisive basket in a 39-36 win over Knightstown.

The biggest spreads of the night were six and all belonged to the hosts – two came at the start of the game (8-2) and early in the fourth quarter (32-26).

The latter was courtesy of an Isaiah Waggoner jump shot from the baseline. The Panthers' 6-foot-4 Palmer Newkirk then got an and-one opportunity, though missing the freebie. With 6:17 to go, Waggoner batted out a loose ball directly in the hands of Miles, who obliged with a teardrop to make it another six-point advantage at 34-28. Michael Roberson, a dead-eye weapon for KHS, sliced the deficit in half with a three and the visitors called timeout.

With just over three minutes left, senior Jacob Cornelius fed Henry Wanstrath from the high post and OA went up 36-31. Roberson drove in for an answer at 2:36. After a point-blank miss by the home side that would have made it a two-possession game, Roberson buried a deep bomb to tie the game at 36.

A missed three by Roberson was gathered in by a teammate and KHS had another chance for a tie. Each team called timeout to prepare. Miles then stripped a Panther of the ball after the inbound pass and OA called another timeout with 14.4 seconds left. By the time Knightstown put Oldenburg in the 5-foul bonus, there were just 3.5 seconds left. Wanstrath hit 1 of 2, giving the guests one last shot. A Roberson prayer wasn't answered in the final second.

Cornelius and Waggoner quickly made it 4-0 after the tip. Roberson's first bucket was echoed by Miles' first make and Wanstrath decided it was his turn to score at 2:52. Late in the quarter, Roberson hit the game's first triple and Knightstown was within 8-7 moving into the next frame.

The Panther run would grow to nine as Newkirk and Roberson scored. A 3 by Zach Hoff knotted things at 11. Hoff and Roberson exchanged treys, sending KHS up 16-15. Another long one for Roberson preceded Miles' 4-point play that made it 19-all at the break.

Both teams scored on their first possessions out of the locker room, Wanstrath and Newkirk doing the honors. The visitors hit a three ahead of five straight points by Wanstrath. Newkirk tied the game at 26 but foul shots by Adam Weber and a putback for Wanstrath made it 30-26 after three.

Roberson hit five 3s and led all players with 21. Wanstrath led OA with 14 as Miles had 11, Hoff 6, Waggoner 4 and Cornelius and Weber 2 each.

OSGOOD - Friday OA made a furious attempt at a comeback win in Osgood but came up short 56-49. In a 40-second span, the Twisters scored 10 straight (8 consecutive for Miles) to cut Jac-Cen-Del's lead to five with 53 seconds left. JCD then held on for the 7-point win.

Miles scored eight of OA's first nine points as the Twisters dropped behind by nine early in the second frame. A 3-point play by Wanstrath, deep three by Miles and Hoff's bucket made it 22-17 and forced a Jac timeout. The Eagles scored the next eight.

Caleb White led the hosts in the second half, pushing JCD up 42-29 at the end of three. Miles (2 triples) and Wanstrath provided OA's offense in the stanza. At 49-31, Cornelius put in eight straight points to prompt a JCD timeout; he then fouled out.

Miles led all scorers with 29 and Wanstrath added 8.
