Iris “Hazel” Ailes

Iris “Hazel” Ailes, 95, of Connersville, passed away Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025, at Autumn Trace of Connersville, surrounded by her family.
A child of Russell and Flora Earhart Kanorr, Iris was born March 23, 1929 in Rushville.
On January 3, 1998, Iris married Walter Daryle Ailes in Connersville. Mr. Ailes passed away April 27, 2009.
Iris worked in the medical field, employed at Orthopedic Surgeons of Richmond as an office worker and manager. She also worked as a caregiver for the elderly as well as the Richmond Art Museum. Iris was a member of Central Christian Church, where she served as a deaconess and a past member of the board of directors. She was also a member of the Fayette County Diabetes Association and the Whitewater Valley Arts Association. In her leisure time, Iris enjoyed reading. She was a skilled artist who liked to paint. She also loved to travel and visited places all over the world.
Survivors include four daughters, Iris Turley of Clarksville, Marsha Paddock of Cambridge City, Jennifer Groce (Dave Squires) of Centerville, and Amy Bauer of Liberty; a step-son, Daryle Ailes of Klamath Falls, Oregon; nine grandchildren; Kevin, James, Andy Brian, Laura, Julie, Alicia, Jacob, Amanda, and Wendi; three nephews; Russell, Victor, and Martial Kanorr; a son-in-law, Bob Groce; and was loved by her many great and great-great-grandchildren, as well as her many cousins and numerous friends.
Iris is preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, Walter Daryle Ailes; her parents; step-daughter, Waletta Runyan; and three siblings, Kenneth Kanorr and an infant brother and sister; and the father of her children, Loren G. Hartwell.
Friends and family visited until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2024, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. Pastor Greg Marvel officiated.
