Mary Evelyn Taylor

Mary Evelyn Taylor, age 91, of Drewersburg went to be with her lord Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Envive Healthcare of Brookville.

Born January 26, 1934 in Drewersburg she was the daughter of the late Harlan L. and E. Hazel (Hutchinson) Williams.  On November 4, 1961 she was united in marriage to Richard Lee ‘Dick’ Taylor, and he preceded her in death on August 2, 2021.

She grew up on the family farm on Sharptown Road, and graduated from Whitewater High School.  She then went to work at Central Trust Bank in Cincinnati.  After starting a family, she then became the secretary at Whitewater High School, and later Mt. Carmel Elementary.  She returned to Central Trust/PNC Bank for many years before retiring as an assistant vice president.

She was a member of the Crosby United Methodist Church.  She had participated in the Franklin County 4-H program, and was the first female to show cattle at the county fair.  She was a founding member of the Drewersburg EMS #1, and a member of the Drewersburg Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.  She enjoyed homemaking and gardening, but her greatest joy came from time spent with her family.  After her retirement, she was one of the founding members of the local quilt guild, the Quilt Batts and made many beautiful quilts over the years.  Mary and her husband also loved traveling and had visited many of the national parks.

Survivors include two sons, Glenn Taylor and Gregg (Laura) Taylor, and her beloved granddaughter, Lydia, all of Drewersburg; a sister, Joyce (Thomas) Frondorf of West Harrison, a sister-in-law, Brenda Williams of West Harrison and many nieces and& nephews.   

In addition to her parents and husband, Dick, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn H. Williams who died July 10, 2015, and two grandchildren, William and Lillian. 

Family and friends may visit from 4 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Ave., Brookville.          

Pastor Andy Zinsmeister will officiate the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville, with burial to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Drewersburg Volunteer Fire Department or the Franklin County Quilt Batts.
