Union County soccer teams were in action twice last week with New Castle visiting on Wednesday and Greensburg here on Saturday.

The UC girls lost a 4-2 decision to the Lady Trojans, and the Trojans escaped with a 1-0 victory in the boys match.

The Lady Patriot girls did  not score until late in the second half when Heaven Fritts put one in the net to avoid a shut-out. Greensburg scored four goals in the first half and four in the second to win 8-1.

Boys-Greensburg 7, UC 3 
The Patriots got off to a good start against Greensburg when Ty Elleman scored in less than four minutes at the top of the first half. Caden Coffman scored a second Patriots’ goal with 13 minutes remaining in the half. Greensburg was more determined and came up with four goals to lead 4-2 at halftime.

Logan Harris got UC going in the second half with a goal scored in the first eight minutes. Greensburg rebounded with three consecutive goals before time ran out to win, 7-3.

This week, UC hosted Rushville Tuesday, Aug. 23, goes to Tri-County North Thursday, Aug. 25 and Connersville Saturday, Aug. 27.
