The Franklin County girls golf team fired a season-low 156 Aug. 18 at the municipal Brook Hill Golf Club to defeat North Decatur's 246. They were three strokes shy of setting a school record. Junior Nicole Mears was low for the meet by shooting a personal best score of 1-under par 34. 

Fellow junior Crystal Calihan also had a career best with 37 and classmate Lillie Graf shot 41. Junior Jacy Grimmeissen's 44 was her personal best. Ruby Singer carded 62 and Vivian Silas 67.

FC finished in 4th place at the Connersville Invitational held at Willowbrook Country Club Aug. 20, scoring 384. Batesville won with 327.

Mears rounded the course in 78 strokes. Calihan shot 96, Graf 101, Grimmeissen 109 and Singer 126.

FC headed to Dearborn Country Club to face shorthanded South Dearborn (incomplete team of 3 golfers) Thursday. FC shot 168. Calihan and Mears led with 34 and 35, respectively. Graf carded 43, Grimmeissen 56 and Singer 57.

Monday at Brook Hill, FC knocked off New Castle by a 173-218 count. Mears led with 38 and Calihan shot 40. Graf landed 46 and Grimmeissen 49. Other scores were Singer (50), Jaelyn Grimmeissen (59), Lucy Lautz (66) and Silas (68).
