F. Duane Brandenburg, 82, of Connersville, passed away peacefully Friday morning, December 2, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

Duane was born June 29, 1940 in Liberty one of three children of Fred Bruce and Mary Evelyn Grimes Brandenburg and was a 1958 graduate of Short High School in Liberty. As a young adult, he resided in Liberty and was employed at Woodruff's Supermarket.  

On July 8, 1961, he was married to Jerian Miller at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church and they made Connersville their residence. Mrs. Brandenburg passed away December 28, 2018.  

In 1980, Duane graduated from Indiana University East with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.  

For over 25 years, he was employed at D & M where he eventually became a cost accountant until the company's closure.  

Duane's life-long passion for cars led him to be employed locally as a sales associate for many years, first at Dove Pontiac, then Scripture Chevrolet, and finally at Groce Auto Sales until his retirement.  

He was a faithful member of the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church where he served as the Lay Leader for many years and on the Pastor Parish Committee. He organized the church golf outings and the church parking lot for Spartan Bowl events where proceeds go for scholarships.  

Duane was a member of the Warren Lodge #14 F. & A. M. and the Connersville Lions Club where he served as past president. Active in his community, he served on the Everton Sewer Board as the accountant. He was also a member of the Fayette County Housing Authority and served on the Harrison Township Board. 

An avid golfer, Duane became a member of the P. G. A. and had two hole-in-ones during his playing days.  

A frequent traveler, he loved going on trips with his wife to Hawaii, Alaska, and Walt Disney World. 

Survivors include his two children, Tami (Alan) Gray-Myers of Indianapolis and Trisha K. Austerman of Connersville; four grandchildren, Wesley B. Gray and Erica (James Yates) Gray, both of Indianapolis, William Duane Austerman of Orlando, Florida, and Alexander E. Austerman of Connersville; a brother, Kenneth Brandenburg; and his precious dogs, Molly and Josie. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jerian Brandenburg; his parents; an infant sister; and a son-in-law, William L. Austerman II, who passed away June 15, 2022. 

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Eric Robertson officiating. Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted by Warren Lodge #14 F. & A. M. prior to the service at 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Duane to the Fayette County Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
