UCMS Food Drive

The 13 member Union County Middle School Student Council recently asked their classmates to participate in a week-long Food Drive to benefit the local Food Pantry.
UCMS students brought in canned food items, packaged food items and packed all of it in large boxes to make for easy pick-up on Friday, Dec. 2, by Nick Tharp, chairman of the Christian Community Cooperative Closet.
“The Food Drive turned into a friendly grade level competition to get the kids to become more involved in it,” Amy Fields said. “The sixth grade brought in the most items!”
Union County Student Council members include...Cadence Bass, Josie Burton, JD Hill, Kayleigh Johnson, Cassidee McCashland, Campbell Meier, Griffin Overholt, Bailey Peters, Braylen Rudnick, Cameron Salsbery, Camryn Stewart, Talan Long, Samantha West, Lucas Welty, and sponsors Amy Fields and Shannon Estep.
“This was our small way of giving back during the holiday season!” Fields said. “We liked the idea of keeping it local and giving back to our community! It was no surprise that so many students, teachers and families donated items. This community always steps up to help out each other!”
