Darrell Wayne Stinger, 69, of Columbus, passed away on December 10, 2022, at his home. He was born on July 25, 1953, to the late Robert Nelson Stinger, and Martha Lane Hanna Stinger. He married his beloved wife of 40 years, Sheila Carlin Stinger, on July 2, 1982, and she survives him.

Darrell was a member of the Covenant Family Worship Center and a determined fighter; coming back through many illnesses over the years. He was a previous member of the Full Gospel Trinity Church in Connersville. He knew no enemy nor stranger and enjoyed making conversation with those around him. His favorite hobbies were shopping, spending time with his family, and his sweet dog, Sophie.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Sheila Stinger, of Columbus, Indiana; children, Neil (Crystal Richardson) Stinger, of Connersville, Billy Richard Case, of Indianapolis, Jamie (Kent) Vaughn, of Connersville, Tammy (Michael) Rigney, of Pasco, Washington, and Tresa Humphrey of Columbus; brother, Brent (Annette) Stinger, of Brookville; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his four-legged companion, Sophie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Stinger; step-father, Alfred Brown, who passed in 1999; and son-in-law, Dave Humphrey.

The funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home in Columbus, Indiana, with Pastors John Carr and Robert Lee officiating the service. Visitation will be before the service from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. In keeping with the family's wishes, cremation is planned after the service.

Those wishing may make memorial donations through the funeral to the Love Chapel.
