Miss Union County Rachel Ingram and her Little Miss Taryn Harvey are carrying on a Christmas tradition at Whitewater Commons Senior Living started by 2021 Miss Union County Lyllian Pentecost.
Last Christmas, Pentecost started the initiative with "Little Miss" Kambry Carson to let the elderly community know they are not forgotten during the holiday season.
"She really wanted to give back to the community in that way, so she and Kambry set it up with Whitewater Commons," said Ingram. "As current queen, me and little miss Taryn are carrying it alongside Lyllian."
The girls are asking the community to show their support to the elderly with a gift for the residents of Whitewater Commons.
"We are accepting all sorts of things, such as blankets, hats, scarves, lotion, body wash, hand sanitizer, puzzles, coloring books, coloring utensils, etc.," Ingram said. "All those items can be donated at Kehila Coffee downtown any time they are open, and we will be collecting donations until Dec. 17."
After all the donations have been received, the girls will be passing on presents on Dec. 19 as they celebrate with the residents.
"When we get all the donations in, we are delivering them here (Whitewater Commons) on Dec. 19, and we are just going to have a little Christmas party with all of them," Ingram shared. "Then we will hand out all the presents to them, open them with them, talk with them and just spend time with them."
