Genova Dell Casteel, age 88, of Metamora, Indiana died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio.
Born September 13, 1934 in Franklin County, Indiana she was one of 13 children born to the late Finley & Martha Mae (Sizemore) Edwards. On October 20, 1956 she was united in marriage to Ralph Eugene Casteel, and he preceded her in death on June 30, 2001.
She was a member of the Buena Southern Missionary Baptist Church, and had previously attended Elm Grove Baptist; she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She had sang in the Gospel Trio, the Gospel Tones. She was a wonderful homemaker, who loved her family and giving to others.
Survivors include three children, Brian (Paula) Casteel of Connersville, Brenda (Steve) Frey of Oxford, Ohio, Beth (Rodney) Johnson of Laurel, Indiana; six grandchildren, Chris Frey, Nikki Thompson, Travis Casteel, Connor Lykins, Baylee Johnson, Kynlee Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Emma, River & Gunnar Thompson; as well a brother, Clifford D. Edwards of Metamora, Indiana.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by eleven siblings, Beulah Foster, Bergen Edwards, Hollie Lancaster, Belva Edwards, Farmer Edwards, Maude Sellars, Marvin Edwards, Geraldine Casteel, Winnie Lou Edwards, Howard Edwards, Paul Edwards.
Family & friends may visit from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 16, 2022 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Rev. Rob Edwards will officiate the Funeral Services on Friday, December 16, 2022, 11:00 A.M., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
