‘Tis the season to support local animal shelters

The annual Local Animal Shelter Donation Tree at The Union County Public Library has the local animal shelter donation tree up, decorated, and ready for donations to be placed under the tree.
"We are raising money and taking donations for the local animal shelters here in Liberty, which is Adopt-A-Dog and LIberty Acres United Animal Sanctuary," said Kate Boggs, the Local Animal Shelters Donation Tree coordinator.
The library is accepting a wide variety of donation items this Christmas to support the two shelters in need.
"We actually have a list by the tree, which is a wish list for each shelter," Boggs said. "Some basic things are dog food, dog toys, stuff for cats. There is some livestock at Liberty Acres right now, so pretty much anything animal-related."
Not only can you bring in donations to the tree, but you can also look at the animals available at the local shelters.
"So, I actually go to each shelter's website and individually print out and design these little ornaments on the tree, and it's everybody available for adoption."
Donation items can be left under the tree located in the library, and cash donations can be left at the desks in the library.
"Our local animal shelters need some help, volunteering out there or helping foster dogs or donating something to the tree or just donating some money for vet expenses."
