Wildcats wrestling strong

Franklin County wrestling defeated conference foe Batesville last Tuesday at FCHS thanks to several forfeits by the Bulldogs. Final was 55-21.

Forfeit wins went to Bryce Bruns (106 pounds), Cole Freese (113), Ty Bruns (126), Tyler Teuschler (132), Phoenix Simons (170), Lane Westerman (182) and Lendon Sizemore (195). Colin Troyer pinned Cade Simonson in the 120-lb. bout in the opening minute. Dakota Schwab (145) decisioned Brady Wonnell 4-3. At 220, Dylan Mulvey earned a major decision over John Dirkhising (18-8).

The FC Invitational took place Saturday. The Cats placed runner-up to Shelbyville on the day. The Golden Bears won the matchup 52-25. FC defeated Connersville 63-18, Hagerstown 66-18, Boone Co. (Kentucky) 72-4 and Union County 48-30.

Going a perfect 5-0 were Freese, Troyer and B. Bruns while Trevor Bruns won his only match at 138 by decision. Hayden Newell was 4-1 at 160 while Sizemore and Westerman posted the same mark. Ty Bruns went 3-2, as did Simons, Mulvey and Nathen Noble (285); Avery Crouch was 3-1. Winning twice were Teuschler, Schwab and Keegan Clark (2-1).

Freese pinned four opponents and added a forfeit. Troyer won by pin, decision and 3 forfeits. B. Bruns picked up 3 pins, a decision and forfeit.

Newell had 2 pins, a major decision and forfeit. Westerman earned 4 pins. Sizemore had a pin, decision win and 2 forfeits. Ty Bruns secured 2 pins and a forfeit. Crouch won by decision and 2 forfeits. Simons had a pair of pins and a forfeit. Mulvey had a pin and 2 forfeits, ditto for Noble. Teuschler received 2 forfeits, Clark a forfeit and pin and Schwab a pin and decision.

FC (12-2) attends the Spartan Classic in Connersville Dec. 29-30.
