Hammond, Lions climb in rankings
November 1, 2022 at 9:06 p.m.
Mount St. Joseph University football team advanced its record to 8-0, after wins in games against Hanover and Bluffton. They are ranked 23rd in all of Division III football.
The Lions are finding some of their success from graduate student Noah Hammond. He is a 6'4” and 237-pound defensive end and a 2018 alumnus of Franklin County High School.
Hammond continued his run of outstanding play against Hanover. He had 6 tackles (3 solo) and a sack and a half. That sacks and a half gave Hammond 10.5 for the season, which ties him with Alex Harbin for most sack in a season in MSJ football history.
Hammond is tied for fourth among all Division 3 players in sacks for this season, but only one and half sacks away from the leader.
The Lions have two more games this season; they will play at Franklin College the 5th and then at home against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology at home on the 12th.
Hammond is the son of Dawn Gindling, Brookville, and grandson of David Stutzman, Brookville.
