On Oct. 29th, at 3:40 p.m., Laurel Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) along with Franklin County EMS 3 were dispatched to Haspin Acres located in Laurel in reference to a female involved in a Jeep rollover with a possible broken arm.
Responding units went to Haspin Acres and followed a witness who had seen the accident. While being escorted to the site, the witness's RZR broke down, creating a delay in locating the patient. Units were fortunate to be able to receive a picture of a map pinging the injured female's location. After receiving the map first responders were able to locate the accident.
Upon locating the patient, there were deformities consistent with a humerus fracture along with other injuries. A helicopter was then requested as well as Metamora Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) to set up a landing zone. The patient was escorted out of the woods with a side by side to the front office of Haspin Acres. She was then transferred to the ambulance. Units then proceeded to the landing zone to assist MVFD and EMS with transfer to the helicopter.
A second accident occurred later in the evening at approximately 6:45 p.m. when a male wrecked a side by side and possibly sustained a broken collar bone and ribs. LVFD, Franklin County EMS and Responder 24 were dispatched. Initially units had called for a helicopter but was later disregarded with EMS transporting the patient to a local hospital.
LVFD responded with two apparatuses and six personnel on the first run to Haspin Acres, and two apparatuses and seven personnel on run 2.
