November 2, 2022 at 8:03 p.m.
The Holiday Bazaar sponsored by the Union County Extension Homemakers is packed with friendly vendors ready to welcome the holiday shopping season.
The popular Holiday Bazaar will open its doors for seven hours (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.), Saturday, Nov. 19, at Union County High School filled with a variety of vendors waiting to serve you.
For more than 40 years the Union County Extension Homemakers Holiday Bazaar has served the community and surrounding area as the first day of the holiday shopping season.
The bazaar attracts crafters from throughout the Indiana and Ohio areas, and although many return year after year, there are always new and different items on display.
The Busy Bees Extension Homemakers Club is working diligently this year in assigning booths throughout the school, setting it all up before the doors open, and preparing goodies for the concession stand. There will be a free shuttle bus provided by the Union County Transit Service running between the Union County Middle School and 4-H Parking lots from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
As you enter the atrium, you will delight at the vast displays of items by local crafters and homemakers. Shoppers looking for a special gift will be faced with many choices, including holiday decorations, baskets, wreaths, Teddy bears, embellished clothing and accessories, candy, jewelry, wooden items, candles, doll clothes, jewelry, holiday decorations, wooden toys, etc.
The Busy Bees will begin setting up Friday afternoon as soon after classes are dismissed and students vacate the building. Vendors are permitted to set up the night before the bazaar or early Saturday morning.
Beautiful piano music will be heard throughout the building while you shop. You surely don’t want to miss visiting the concession stand operated by the Busy Bees where they serve creamed chicken sandwiches that remain a favorite throughout the years.
In addition to creamed chicken sandwiches, the menu includes Sloppy Joes, pizza and a variety of homemade pie and drinks. Carry-outs are also available.
Too early for lunch? Come early and enjoy a cup of coffee and a donut.
Don’t forget to sign up for the door prizes which are provided by the vendors themselves.
While there is no admission charge, the homemakers are welcoming donated food items to assist the Union County Community Pantry.
So make sure you mark your calendar on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Union County Middle School, 488 E. St. Rd. 44, Liberty, for the annual Union County Extension Homemakers Holiday Bazaar.
Proceeds from the bazaar help fund two $500 scholarships given out annually to deserving UC graduates.
