It was a Spooky Evening at the Union County Extension Homemakers Jamboree Celebration last week. The annual jamboree is a time to look back at the past year and plan ahead to the coming year. With Halloween just around the corner, many Homemakers chose to dress in keeping with the holiday – so it was a Spooky Evening as well.

The evening began with a delicious pitch-in dinner consisting of special dishes prepared by the homemakers themselves. The following business meeting included president’s report of the past year...Apron Strings, Priscilla Robinson, Three G’s, Janet Cleveland and Busy Bees, Jodi Knollman. County president Marla Neukam announced the winners of awards and county committee reports (club goal, fair awards including Baking, Sewing Needlework, Photography, Crafts, Horticulture and Horticulture Arrangements, membership Improvement and the upcoming Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 19.

Self-taught carving artist Ron Vance shared many Bible sticks he has created over the years. Each stick is similar in size to a walking stick and tells a Bible story through his delicate carvings from top to bottom and all around the piece of wood.
