“Celebrate life, live drug free!” was the motto for all the Union County 5th graders who spent an activity-packed day at Frame's Outdoor Sports Supplies on Oct. 12 for the Red Ribbon Celebration.

Both Liberty Elementary and College Corner Elementary 5th graders had participated in a contest to design the T-shirt for this year's Red Ribbon Week. The winning design was put on a shirt for all students, and the winner announced at the event. The chosen shirt design read: “Say No to Drugs, but Say Yes to Pizza!”

According to those in attendance, the students enjoyed hearing from all the agencies that were involved, asked very good questions and were engaged in all the activities. The day was kicked off with Jeff Mathews, retired Navy personnel, and followed by Union County Sheriff's Department, Liberty Police, Connersville K9 police, Indiana State Police, Indiana Excise Police, Indiana DR, Indiana National Guard, Liberty/College Corner Fire Department, and the Union County Health Department, who all came with presentations, activities and support.

This grant is focused on looking for gaps and resources to meet Union County drug prevention programs' needs. For more pictures, information, and upcoming events and contests, please visit the Facebook site “Prevention is the Cure.”
