UC voters weigh in at the polls

The results of Tuesday's local elections are in for Union County, with just around 50% of those registered turning out to vote. With ten precincts and 2,544 ballots cast, the contested local races' results follow:
Jeffrey Raatz (R-Richmond) won the race for State Senate (District 27) with a 71/29% split over Dr. Ronald Intyre. Locally, Raatz did even better (78.8%).
Sue Rude (R) took county recorder over Loree Persinger with 63% of the local vote. In the county sheriff's race, Jeff Adams (R) came out on top with 57% of the vote over Jeff Franklin's 43%.
For county council (District 2), Tyler Clavell (R) took the seat with 57% of the vote over Jim Hensley, Jr.
Jessica Ewing Jones of Union Township (67%) and Jerry Ashbrook of Liberty Twp.(56%) took seats on the UC/College Corner joint school board over Mike Murray and Grace Atkins, respectively. David Hofmann (Brownsville) and Darrell Harvey (Bath) were unopposed.
Unopposed on Tuesday: Prosecutor AJ Bryson (D), Judge Matthew Cox (R), Susan Ray for clerk (D), Dennis Spaeth for auditor (D), Ted Young for surveyor (R), Diana Baker for assessor (D), Dist. 1 Co. Commissioner Howard Curry (R), Ravenna G. Brown for Dist. 1 councilmember (R), Trisha Persinger for Dist. 4 (R), Nancy Witter for Dist. 3 (R), Republican township trustees Fred Lunsford (Brownsville), Matt Reuss (Center), Bob Neeley (Harmony), Rick Hill (Harrison) and Bill Baumbauer (Liberty) along with Democrat Mark Rosenberger in Union Twp.
Lindsay Patterson (R) was unopposed for state representative in Dist. 55. US Senator Todd Young (R) won his reelection bid with UC voters going for him at a 78% clip. US Representative Greg Pence (R) did the same in the 6th Congressional District; locals punched his button nearly 80% of the time.
Republicans swept state auditor (Tera Klutz), secretary of state (Diego Morales) and state treasurer (Daniel Elliott). UC totals were in the 70 percentile for each candidate.
Judges Nancy H. Vaidik and Leanna K. Weissmann both remained in office (IN Court of Appeals) with over 70% voting yes to each.
