Kayla Spangler, of Metamora, has been battling brain cancer and her journey has captured the hearts of people all over southeast Indiana.
Last week, a special graduation ceremony was held for her at the Brookville VFW with a surprise for the teenager that followed.
The 17-year-old said she had a wish to hear from actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson a few weeks ago.
Hector Mendez, of Maryland, who served in the Navy with Kayla's father, found out about her wish and started the initiative to make it happen. Mendez reached out to our news partners "The 812" to spread the message with the hope of reaching the Hollywood star.
This past week, her wish came true.
In front of family and friends, Kayla was watching the television when her idol appeared on the screen.
"I have a message for a very cool girl, a very special girl, her name is Kayla," said Johnson.
The movie star spoke to Kayla for more than three minutes acknowledging her love of wolves, horror movies, sushi, pineapples and snakes.
"You love snakes, I don't love snakes, but that is very cool of you,and that makes you a badass," Johnson said.
The Rock said he was honored that Kayla is a fan of his and also sent her $800 worth of merchandise, as well as a free link to his hit new movie "Black Adam."
"You're my biggest fan, now I am your biggest fan. Literally, because I am like six-foot-fifteen and look like a dinosaur, I'm also old as a dinosaur, too," Johnson added.
The Franklin County graduate was surprised to hear from her favorite movie star, saying, "Oh my gosh it was The Rock!"
Kayla continues to fight back against her terminal cancer diagnosis.
