4-H Holds Annual Banquet and Meeting for Association

Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, the Franklin County 4-H Association held their 2022 Recognition Banquet. This took place at Franklin County High School from 6pm to 8pm.
The banquet line-up went as follows:
· Welcome and moment of reflection
· Dinner
· Awards and Recognitions
· 4-H Association Annual Meeting
· Board of Directors Election
· Conclusion and final remarks
Once dinner concluded, Elizabeth Simmermeyer presented awards to 4-H members in categories. These include Camp Participants (23), Teen Camp Participants (10), 4-H Camp Counselors (16), Mini 4-H Day Participants (46), Round Up Participants (3), Band Participants (1), Shooting Competition Participants (8) and the Area 7 Tractor Driving Participants (9).
Other awards include:
· Herdsman Awards - 5 winners
· David Leising Awards - 2 winners
· Dary Achievement Award - 1 winner
Following awards, Beth Caudill presented her brother (Rick Hofer) with an award for his 40 years of volunteer work with the 4-H. Cheryl Simmermeyer presented Tom Drewes with an award for 45 years of volunteer work with the 4-H. Both were given a plaque for their recognition that will be placed on benches at the fairgrounds.
Elizabeth next continued with enrollment numbers and accomplishments at the extension office. After, Veronica Bullock (Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator/County Extension Director) updated all attendees on the community gardening projects (Laurel and Brookville areas), and the other projects she completed for 2022. Cheryl Simmermeyer, the president of Franklin County 4-H Association, spoke about the fair and the upgrades on the fairgrounds including electric in the cattle barn, upgraded electric in the goat/sheep barn, a wash rack addition, and new exit signs. This was made possible due to generous donations from individuals and businesses.
Sharon Volk, treasurer, spoke about the annual financial report. Following her was Brian Baxter, who discussed the new build project.
Rosa Brehm next spoke up with the election of three new board members. During ballot counts, Senator Jeff Raatz stood up and thanked everyone for their hard work produced during the past year, and recognized the broad efforts given to have a successful year.
The annual banquet and meeting was concluded with the elction of new members Katien Shuman, Justin Leising, and James Jacob.
