After evading police Lakes still not apprehended

Steven Lakes, 45, who was wanted on several outstanding warrants, was arrested at the Quick Pix in Liberty around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 8. - by the Union County Sheriff's Department. After being taken into custody by the Union County Sheriff's Department, Lakes somehow became free of the handcuffs and gained possession of the Union County Sheriff's vehicle.
After Lakes became in possession of the sheriff's vehicle, he led police through a multi-county pursuit through Fayette, Ripley, Decatur, and Rush Counties. The following day, the UCSD vehicle was located in Shelbyville. Lakes was not apprehended and is in possession of the officer's firearm and is considered armed and dangerous.
ISP released Union County will be handling the investigation.
The arrest came three days after the Connersville Police Department (CPD) received a tip that Lakes was at 1327 Eastern Ave. in Connersville. Lakes was alleged to have a firearm(s) and has a history of evading arrest. Two of the active warrants are for Level 4 felony charges.
Upon arrival, officers were alerted Lakes was inside the residence, and a perimeter was established. CPD called the Indiana State Police to assist. After several hours and attempts to establish communication with Lakes, chemical weapons were deployed, and officers entered the residence.
However, Lakes was able to escape. In a press release, the Connersville Police Department subsequently shared that officers located several hidden rooms and crawl spaces within the residence.
Lakes is 5'6”, approximately 145lbs, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and pants. Currently, Lakes doesn't have the facial hair shown in the photo. ISP is asking the public to remain vigilant and to report anything suspicious. ISP is telling citizens not to approach Lakes if seen. Instead, contact the local police or dial 911.
