The Franklin County Lady Wildcats hosted the Northeastern Lady Knights Friday night in Brookville. The hosts pulled away for a commanding 61-39 victory.

The first frame saw the squads play even with the lead changing hands several times. With two minutes to go in the frame, tied at 9-9, Kassidy Schell connected on a deep three to put FC on top. The Lady Cats led after the first frame 14-11. 

Franklin County took an even larger lead three minutes into the second period after Macy Crain scored on a putback, putting FC up 23-16.

Northeastern then went on an 11-point run to take the lead 25-23 with 45 seconds to go in the half. Nicole Mears tied the game up again with two free throws just before the half ended. 

The third frame began with both teams scoring before the Lady Cats scored six unanswered points and went up 33-27. FC kept the lead at five points for the next three minutes until Northeastern sent the Lady Cats to the free throw line, with Schell, Crain, and Tiffany Billman combining to go 12 of 12 from the charity stripe in the frame. Northeastern came up short on their final six shots in the  quarter and the Lady Cats went into the fourth quarter up 46-33. 

The FC defense held the Lady Knights to just six fourth-quarter points while scoring 15 with Billman going 7 of 10 from the free throw line in the frame. The Lady Cats moved to 4-1 with the 22-point victory.

Billman led all scorers in the game with 17 points. Crain finished with a career high 15, Ka. Schell scored 10, Mears 9, Josie Rolfes 6, and Kiersten Schell finished with 4 points. Northeastern was led in scoring by their 6'3” junior center Addisen Mastriano with 12 points. 

The Lady Cats will be back in action Friday when they travel to Union County to take on the Lady Patriots. The road warriors continue Saturday night as they head to face Class 4A Shelbyville.
