Hammond chosen HCAC defensive MVP

Noah Hammond graduated from Franklin County High School in 2018. He is now a graduate student at Mount St. Joseph and played defensive line for the Lions' football team.
According to heartlandconf.org, Hammond was selected the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He totaled 42 tackles on the year, adding 8.5 sacks and 10.5 tackles for loss against HCAC opponents.
Some stats from recent games include 1 solo tackle and 2 assisted tackles on Oct. 29th against Bluffton. On Nov. 5th he had 3 solo tackles and one assisted tackle against Franklin College (27-20 win). Finally on Nov. 12th he had 2 solo tackles and 2 assisted tackles against Rose-Hulman (40-31 win).
Mount St. Joe won the HCAC championship with their win over Rose-Hulman.
On Saturday Nov. 19th Mount St. Joe's terrific season came to a halt with a 41-21 loss to Alma College in Michigan; Alma improved to 11-0 and won the school's first-ever playoff game.
The Lions (10-1) were ranked 22nd in Division III football after the regular season and advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
Hammond, the son of Dawn Gindling, Brookville and grandson of David Stutzman, Brookville, etched his name into the MSJ record books with 10.5 sacks this season.
