On Sunday, Nov. 20 at about 5:30 p.m., Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 19000 block of Stacy Road in Metamora Township, to the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a male in his 20s suffering from an apparent stab wound. Deputies and first responders immediately began providing first aid treatment to the male, who was later flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati, for treatment of his injuries.
Through their investigation, deputies identified Clinton Wayne Patrick, age 46 of Metamora, as the suspect in the stabbing. With the help of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department and tips from the public, Patrick was taken into custody on Monday, Nov. 21, at about 8 a.m., at a home in Fayette County. Patrick was arrested on the preliminary charges of Burglary as a level 2 felony, Battery with a Deadly Weapon, a level 5 felony, and Domestic Battery, a class A misdemeanor. Patrick was lodged in the Franklin County Security Center with no bond.
Deputies would like to ensure the public that this was an isolated incident and no other persons are being sought. Investigators are not releasing a motive for the stabbing.
The Franklin County Sheriff's Department emphasized that Patrick's preliminary charges are for booking and bail purposes only. Once the investigation is completed, deputies will forward their findings to the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office for consideration of what, if any, formal charges will be filed against Patrick.
If convicted of a level 2 felony, Patrick could face up to 30 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines. Charges are merely an accusation and all criminal suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
