Metamora's newest business – The Sap Bucket

By Cassie Garrett-

The Sap Bucket is Metamora's newest business and opened on the first day of Metamora's Annual Christmas Walk beginning Nov. 27; it is located on the Main Street of the historic canal town.

Owners Alan and Mary Stenger are well known in Brookville and around the region for their original business, Stenger Sugar Shack, which inspired The Sap Bucket in Metamora. At the Stengers’ farm in Brookville, natural maple syrup is produced, along with honey, beef jerky, gourmet popcorn, and their newest item Maple Pepper Rub.

"Of course, we have our Stenger Sugar Shack products," said Alan. "That's how we all got our start. We are excited about having all those items in here."

The Sap Bucket is a general store in a gift shop, so a wide variety of other items are available beyond the family staples.

"We have a lot of Christmas decor and other season items," Mary said. "There is a great big stand full of kitchen lines, some holiday and some not. We also have a full line of stationery and pens."

Visitors can also stop in The Sap Bucket for a drink and a bite to eat in a warm spot while doing holiday shopping.

"As you can see, the store is big," Alan said. “We are also going to be a snack bar and a candy shop. You can buy candy by the pound and fudge by the pound."

Alan and Mary shared how excited they were to open a shop in Metamora.

"This is an opportunity for us to further our product line and also be a part of the small-town feel, which I love," Alan said.

The Sap Bucket will be open throughout Christmas Walk.
