Hammond beefing up Lions' D-line

Mount St. Joseph University's football team currently sits at a perfect 6-0 record this fall, ranked nationally in the top 25 for NCAA Division 3 programs.
A big part of the Lions' success is graduate student Noah Hammond, a 6'4”,237-pound defensive end and 2018 alumnus of Franklin County High School.
Hammond is credited with 25 total tackles (13 of the solo variety) through the first six games, 10 of those being tackles for loss. Additionally, he's brought down the opposing quarterback a team-best nine times, including a 4-sack game earlier this month against Defiance College (season-high 8 tackles).
The performance netted Hammond the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. One week later, Hammond padded his sack totals with an effort of three in a victory over Anderson University.
Hammond is tied for fourth among all Div. 3 players in sacks this season, but only one full sack behind C.J. Mustain (Merchant Marine Academy) and Zachary Blackiston (Heidelberg College).
Over his previous four years of eligibility, the former Wildcat compiled 69 total tackles and 7.5 sacks.
The Lions' remaining schedule has them visiting Hanover College Saturday, followed by homecoming against Bluffton University, at Franklin College and home with Rose-Hulman.
Hammond is the son of Dawn Gindling, Brookville, and grandson of David Stutzman, Brookville.
