Jerry T. Copes, 72, of Centerville, peacefully passed away on October 13th, 2022. He was born November 4th, 1949 in Los Angeles. He proudly served his country for 20 years and 5 days in the United States Army. He retired from Frontier Technology Inc. as the director of contracts.  He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Jerry will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor, and as the guru of spreadsheets. Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Norvilla A. Copes. Jerry is survived by his loving family, including his wife of 28 years, Cheryl (Walters) Copes; his father Eugene L. Copes; three children, Alicia Copes, Scott (Natalie) Copes and Jennifer Copes; three step-children, Kim (Shawn) Hayslett, Tim (Dottie) Woodard, and Beth (George) Bissell; three grandchildren, Taylor Pope, Antonio Ferguson, and Lily Copes; step grandchildren, Kristen (Dwayne) Henderson, Kayla Woodard, and Kelsey (Travis) Frasher, Chevonne Hayslett, Nathaniel Hayslett, Caleb Bissell, Luke Bissell and Peyton Bissell; great-grandchildren, Joby Ferguson; step-great-grandchildren, Harper Henderson, Eleanor Henderson and Rowan Frasher; brothers, Brian (Donna) Copes, and Douglas Copes; and many other extended family members and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at DayCity Hospice, Dayton Physicians Cancer Center, and Fidelity Home Health Care for their wonderful care. A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at Dayton National Cemetery with military honors. A Celebration of Life will follow at Happy Corner Church of the Brethren (7037 N. Union Road, Clayton, OH 45315). In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to DayCity Hospice or The USO in Jerry's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville, OH.
