At Third Place in Brookville on Oct. 19, state leaders joined Charter Communications to announce the launch of Spectrum Internet, Mobile, TV and Voice services to areas unserved in Franklin County.
"Be glad you live in southeastern Indiana because this is a great place to live," said State Representative Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison).
"Financially, the state of Indiana is doing pretty good and can invest some money in things like this to help people. So it's a good day to be a Franklin County citizen."
When construction is complete, more than 725 Franklin County residents and small businesses will have access to the following Spectrum services for the first time:
Spectrum Internet - Internet plans offer speeds up to 1 Gbps for both residential customers and small business clients, with starting speeds of 300 Mbps. There are no modem fees, data caps, or contracts. Spectrum Business Internet offers download speeds of 300 Mbps, 600 Mbps, and 1 Gbps.
Spectrum Mobile is available exclusively to Spectrum Internet customers, combining the fastest overall speeds with the best devices and a choice of unlimited or by the Gig data plans. Spectrum Mobile provides access to nationwide 5G. Two or more lines start at $29.99 a month.
Spectrum TV offers more than 200 HD channels and access to 85,000 On Demand movies and shows. Using the Spectrum TV App, viewers can stream content across a growing number of platforms, including iOS and Android mobile devices, Xbox One, Kindle Fire, Samsung Smart TVs, Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Roku, XClass TVs and PCs.
"Work is underway in the county, and as we complete a section, customers can sign up for service," said Mike Petedly, communications director for Charter. "We notify them when service is available with marketing materials, and our sales team directly contacts them. The work is expected to be concluded in 2025."
Residents and business owners should visit spectrumruralexpansion.com to learn more about when their home or business can receive Spectrum services.
"As a result of Charter Communications/ Spectrum being awarded large areas of Franklin County in the FCC RDOF reverse auction, we will have improved high-speed internet service for many of our citizens that had little hope of those connections," Franklin County Economic Development Director John Palmer said.
Charter Communications also presented the Franklin County Community Foundation with a $2,500 donation to launch the Spectrum Digital Literacy Scholarship Fund to support digital literacy training through the foundation's outreach service to students.
