Lady Wildcats shut out Patriots, 6-0

Last Tuesday the FC girls soccer team took on the Union County Patriots. The Wildcats shut out the Patriots and won with a score of 6-0. In the first period captain Madesyn Sunderhaus scored a goal at 18:32. Senior Erica Weaver was credited with the assist. In the second period Sunderhaus wasted no time and scored another goal at 38:56. Audrey Weaver was credited with the assist on this play. At 28:38 Kylee Bolser had a goal and Bethany Melugin received the assist. At 7:35 Sunderhaus made yet another goal with the assist from Weaver. With little time to spare at the end of this match, McKenna Chinn scored a goal at 0:11. Freshman Sayla Sacksteder had the assist. Freshman Chyenne Jenkins had 4 saves and sophomore Liz Wendel had 2. Sunderhaus was selected as the Max Preps player of the game.
The Wildcats were back in action on Wednesday when they took on the Lawrenceburg Tigers. The Cats were shut out with a score of 7-0. Melugin had 2 shots. Weaver and Lily Knapp both had a shot each.
Senior Maegan Pearson had 18 saves in this match.
The Lady Wildcats traveled to New Castle Aug. 23 and won with a score of 3-0. Sophomore Sunderhaus scored two goals and senior Melugin scored one. Sunderhaus, Melugin, and sophomore Esther George all had one assist. Sunderhaus had 7 shots on goal, and Melugin had 6. Pearson had 3 saves and sophomore Liz Wendel had 2. The win made their record 2-1 (now 3-2) on the season.
FC is at Milan Sept. 7.
Boys soccer
Last Tuesday the Wildcats played the Union County Patriots and lost their half of a varsity doubleheader. The boys soccer team took on East Central last Thursday and lost with a score of 12-1.
FC lost an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference match to Greensburg Aug. 23 on the FC pitch. The Pirates won 5-1.
John Robbins had a hat trick for the Bucs as the visitors pulled away from a 1-1 halftime deadlock. Hunter Springmeyer had 3 assists and a goal and Ethan Smith scored the other Greensburg goal.
The boys fell 7-0 at Richmond Aug. 25.
FC (0-6-1, 0-3) visits Greensburg Thursday.
