A 3-way cross country meet last week found the Union County boys at the top with Tanner Paddock’s first-place finish leading the way. 

“The boys finished in front of Tri and Northeastern and the girls had a great showing as well finishing second behind Northeastern and beating Seton and Tri,”  UCMS cross country coach Jeremy Franklin said.

Tanner completed the course in 10:48, but was followed closely by Griffin Overholt’s 12:49.

“Tanner beat the school 3000 meter record by nearly a minute,” Franklin said.

The middle school girls were led by Henley Paddock (13:47) with Lillian Goecke at 13:48.

Union City Invitational
Tanner Paddock paced a field of 77 male middle school runners at the Union City Invitational last Saturday. The UCMS eighth grader posted a 11:52 time and in front of NE eighth grader Brody Ross at  12:44.

UC’s Jackson Robbins finished 10th (13:47) and Overholt was 13th (13:56) to finish in the top 15 runners.

Goecke, a seventh grader, finished 3rd, 14:30, followed by a pair of sixth graders - Henley Paddock 7th,  15:02 and Kelsey Dare 15th at 15:53.

The UCMS Patriot runners will be on the course at the Randolph Southern Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 10 and at Richmond MS Thursday, Sept. 15.
