James Larry Wells Sr, age 86, of Brookville died Saturday, September 17, 2022 at his residence in Brookville.
Born March 17, 1936 in Hamilton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leonard & Mattie Mae (Sandlin) Wells.
He was retired having worked at Batesville Tool & Die. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing cards, watching college sports, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his canine companion Jazzy.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Redmen Oshawnee #220 of Brookville, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1129 of Brookville.
Survivors include four children, Sharon Schafer of Grand Junction, Colorado, James L. (Janet) Wells Jr. of Crossville, Tennessee, Leslie Mikesell of New Lisbon, Lisa (Chris) Nichols of Brookville; he also leaves behind two sisters, Betty Sparks of Brookville, Carol (Ralph) Lohrey of Brookville; 11 grandchildren, John Murrell, Rachel Deitsch, Desirae Parker, Blake Schafer, Nicholas Wells, Heather Mikesell, Cody Mikesell, Skylar Mikesell, Brittany Mischell, Tyler Nichols, Brody Nichols; 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Geneva Sparks, as well as his second wife Irene R. Pennington Wells; siblings, Donald Wells, Freda Culver; as well as his son-in-law, David Schafer.
Family and friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
Kevin Noah will officiate the Funeral Services on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sims Cemetery in New Fairfield.
