College Corner’s Annual Easter Egg Hunt

There are Easter egg hunts and then there is the 2023 College Corner Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by the College Corner Community Club.
The annual Easter Egg Hunt is one of many community events sponsored by the 83 year old community club and is vastly different from any other.
This year’s hunt was held during the school Spring Break and a cold, windy day at College Corner’s Stateline Ball Park.
Young people were divided into five age groups, 0-2 years, 3-4 years, 5-6 years, and 7-8 years and provided a section of the park of their own to search for more than 1,000 plastic filled eggs, other goodies to munch on and one golden egg per age group! The lucky child with the golden egg was entitled to a huge basket filled with all kinds of goodies and a large fuzzy stuffed animal.
“All the goodies are provided by the community - businesses, groups, individuals, as well as others,” Welty said. “Our community and the entire area is always so supportive.”
Local resident, Amelia Oberschlake, a consultant with Usborne Books, is a donor for the second year and provided 30 children’s books to be used as prizes for the egg hunt.
Upon arrival, children were a little hesitant, clutching their parents’ hands and shivering a little while waiting for the excitement to begin.
When the signal to begin was given, it was off to the races looking for colorful eggs and snack size treats. At the end of each hunt, winners were singled out and rewarded for their success in finding a golden egg.
The winners were: Aiden Stansberry (0-2 yrs.), Everly Webb (3-4 yrs.), Ellie Moore (5-6 yrs.), Emma Marker (7-8 yrs.), Amayah Yancey (9-10 yrs.).
