Vilma Slagle, 93, of Connersville, went home to be with the Lord Friday evening, April 14, 2023 at Reid Health, Connersville.   

She was born September 16, 1929 in Cincinnati, one of five children of Fred and Lucile Peters Leadbetter.  

Vilma married the love of her life, Reverend Bill Slagle. They had a fruitful ministry together for many years pastoring Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle Church in Metamora. Bill passed away January 21, 2004. Vilma continued to attend the church after her husband's passing, and her son Reverend Troy Slagle became the pastor.    

Vilma worked in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn for several years. Previously, she had worked at the Batesville Casket Company.  

A devoted mother and grandmother, she loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed attending church and worshiping with her family.   

Survivors include a son, Reverend Troy Slagle (Mary Simmons) of Connersville; eight grandchildren, Hannah (Jeramie) Horn of Centerville, Hailey (Pat) Chappel, Hollie (Jimmy) King, Lance Slagle, and Michelle (Rick) Richardson, all of Connersville, Melissa (Gary) Reece of Greensburg, Harold “Blue Jean” Williams and Billy (Shannon) Williams, both of Richmond; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Richard Leadbetter of Connersville.  

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Bill Slagle; a son, Billy Dean Slagle; a daughter, Arnetia Williams; and three siblings, Duane Leadbetter, Audrey Ferguson, and Donald Leadbetter.  

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Troy Slagle officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
