FC girls busy on court

Franklin Co. girls tennis has seen no shortage of action recently.
The Cats fell to conference foe Rushville last Tuesday, 3-2. Nicole Mears won easily at 1 singles, 6-0, 6-3 and the No. 2 doubles team of Shannon Stenger and Serena Silas won in three sets.
The previous day was a 5-0 loss to Lawrenceburg. LHS won singles in straight sets and both doubles matches went the distance.
Thursday Batesville topped FC 4-1. Mears was the lone winner at 6-1, 6-4.
Saturday the Cats suffered a 5-0 defeat to Seymour. FC managed just seven games against the tough Lady Owls. In a second tourney match, FC edged Triton Central 3-2. Mears won 7-5, 6-3. Stenger and Sayla Sacksteder won at 2 doubles (6-2, 1-6, 10-9) and Kristen Ison and Vivian Silas took the No. 1 doubles match (6-2, 7-6 (7-5)). Shelbyville downed FC 5-0 as well, winning each match in straight sets.
Monday FC took a 5-0 loss at the hands of East Central.
The ladies host Centerville April 19.
